  1.  Barcode Tool

  3. The Barcode Tool allows you to place a barcode you previously defined in the Barcode 
  4. specification dialog box onto the label.
  5.  
  6. When you choose the Barcode Tool the cursor shape changes from an Arrow to a small set of 
  7. crosshairs and a small barcode pattern under it.

  9. You can  use the Barcode Tool for  manually entering Barcode information as well as for
  10. barcoding the contents of a database field . To encode the information you entered manually, first 
  11. choose the Barcode Specifications menu entry from the Label menu. Doing this will give you 
  12. the Barcode Specifications dialog box. When the barcode information appears in the data 
  13. field, the barcode preview  appears in the Barcode Preview field. If the data is valid, the  
  14. barcode  symbol corresponding to the Data field information is displayed. Click OK when finished.

  16. Position the cursor to the place you want and click. The Information you specified will appear on 
  17. the label. Click once more to get corresponding barcode symbol.

  19. If you choose the  Barcode Tool from the Label Tool Palette without  first using  the  
  20. Barcode Specifications dialog box, the text insertion point cursir appears. The Default 
  21. barcode type will be the UPC-E barcode. Insert the  digits and press the Enter key.

  23. If you click on a barcode symbol in a label with the Barcode Tool  selected  the computer will 
  24. show the string of characters that was encoded into the  barcode. If you wish, you can correct 
  25. the mistakes or insert a new record to be encoded. Then, click again and the computer will show 
  26. the barcode.

  28. If you double click on the Barcode symbol with the Item Tool selected   the Barcode 
  29. Specification dialog box will be displayed and can make your changes there.(Please see the 
  30. Help information for the Barcode Specifications dialog box found in the Label Menu portion of 
  31. this Help file.)

  33. To make a barcode of the information from the database field, place the database field  on the 
  34. label with the help of the Field Tool. After placing the database field, its name will be displayed 
  35. on the label. Next, choose the Barcode Tool and  click the crosshairs on the field name you just 
  36. placed on the label. The computer will now encode the field name into the barcode. If you want to 
  37. encode the database field contents you need to use the Label Preview option from the File 
  38. menu. Or, use the Item PreviewTool from the Label Tool Palette (Eye icon) and click 
  39. again on the field on the label you want encoded.

  41. If you click QuickAddress field with a  Barcode Tool, you will get a Quick Address 
  42. & Barcode field.
